The "Trao cơ hội - Nối ước mơ" has continued its journey to The Boarding Ethnic Minority High School - Sa Dung Secondary School, Dien Bien Province, bringing a meaningful scholarship to the student Sùng A Đông.

Born in a barren land, harsh weather in a poor commune in Dien Bien, Sùng A Đông's family has 8 siblings. His father passed away early, leaving his mother to take care of the family and raise her children. His house is 30km away from school. However, overcoming those adversities, for 8 years now, Đông has still been an excellent student, with the highest academic achievement in the class and a typical honor of the school. 

Growing up in a context of deprivation, Sùng A Đông had early revealed empathetic thoughts beyond his age. Comprehending the suffering of his mother and siblings, Đông would help his mother with several arduous household chores every time he returned from school. He was agile and efficient, completing any task he undertook.

Life's hardships seem to have toughened Đông up, making him more mature than his peers: "There were times when I thought about dropping out of school to work with my mom, to help her. But then I realized that if I quit studying, I would still end up in the same hardship later on. So I'm trying to study hard to have a better, more stable life and job, so I won't be poor like this anymore." Đông said.

Not just Đông, there are many other children who do not have the opportunity to receive a proper education. With his dream of becoming a math teacher, Dong hopes to contribute to helping the children in his hometown. He shared, "I see that there are many children in my commune who still face difficulties. I will try my best to become a teacher in the future, to help the children have better opportunities to reach knowledge."

The determined look in Đông's eyes every time he looks at his impoverished village spurs him on to keep going to school. Even though the 30km journey ahead is long and arduous, it's nothing for Đông when the destination is knowledge, meals with meat, a disciplined and self-reliant boarding environment. All of this helps bring Đông closer to his dream of becoming a teacher.

The "Trao cơ hội - Nối ước mơ" program sponsored by Vietlott, has arrived at the Sa Dung Boarding Secondary School to present a scholarship to the resilient student Sùng A Đông, 8A3. According to Lê Anh Tuấn, a representative from Vietlott, the state-owned lottery company under the Ministry of Finance, the scholarship is awarded to Đông with the hope of supporting his studies and motivating him and students who also have the relevant condition to strive for their dreams.

With the small encouragement gift from the "Trao cơ hội - Nối ước mơ" program, it is hoped that Sùng A Đông, the young student from Điện Biên, will be empowered and maintain his determination to continue striving in his studies, advancing further on his path to fulfill his dream of becoming a teacher. Moreover, the program and Đông's story are expected to powerfully inspire all the students that if they have a dream and put in the effort, one day they will all be able to achieve their dreams.
